    • Our Specialized Diagnostic and Treatment Procedures include:

    Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG)

    This procedure, performed in our office, utilizes electrical stimulation of the nerves to record nerve conduction velocity and other parameters. Insertion of a very small needle into various muscles is used to record electrical activity from the muscle. This test is helpful in diagnosing a wide variety of nerve and muscle disorders.

    Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)

    VNS therapy is used for the treatment of seizures. This involves the surgical implantation of a device similar to a cardiac pacemaker in the chest, and electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve in the neck.

    Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

    This treatment uses a surgically implanted device, similar to a pacemaker, to deliver electrical stimulation to precisely targeted areas on each side of the brain. Stimulation of these areas has been helpful in the treatment of advanced Parkinson’s, essential tremor and dystonia.
